Ένα μικρό 7χρονο αγοράκι, ο Roman McConn, από την πόλη Augusta της Georgia των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών ανακηρύχτηκε ως το «Παιδί της Χρονιάς» παίρνοντας και το ανάλογο βραβείο από τη γνωστή φιλοζωική οργάνωση American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). We get asked a lot if Roman ever gets to be a kid. This is a typical evening in our house. Roman loves his dog mission but also plays soccer (sign ups are soon), does Jiu Jitsu (crazy, the same kid who is compassionate and empathetic beyond believe also does choke holds and arm bars to submission 😂), swims a ton, and LOVES LEGOs. We also just recently introduced him to old cartoons like Dark Wing Duck, Talespin, and Rescue Rangers 🙌🏼! So to answer the question for everyone ... yes, Roman has a pretty ordinary life really. We just think it’s important he also learns to give back and fight for what he believes in and he’s been fortunate enough to have this amazing platform to do so. 💙

Today we took our first delivery of donated items to Mr. Harry. He was the sweetest man. Crazy enough ... he had heard stories about Roman 🤯! In the second photo it is Roman, Mr. Harry, and Mr. Dennis - Mr. Dennis is the man who shared the story about Mr. Harry that we saw and inspired us to help. In turn our amazing PFR family stepped in, in true PFR fashion! We are so blessed to have your support and will never have enough thank yous to pass around! We will continue to keep in touch with Mr. Dennis and Mr. Harry and share any updates we receive. Today we delivered most of our wishlist items but we’ll get the rest to Mr. Harry as they come in. Η μητέρα του αναφέρει ότι η αρχή έγινε όταν ο Roman είδε κάποια στιγμή αδέσποτα και εγκαταλελειμμένα κουταβάκια έξω από το κατάστημα PetSmart. Ήταν μια μέρα πριν από τα γενέθλιά του. Έτσι ζήτησε από τους φίλους και γνωστούς του να μην του φέρουν δώρο αλλά να δώσουν τα χρήματα αυτά σε καταφύγιο αδέσποτων.

Meet Riley!! Pending his Health Certificate checkup this boy will be headed to the SPCA Jefferson County in Watertown NY on July 23rd!! Riley has been a repeat resident at the shelter because he can escape chain link fences. He’s looking for a home where he can be kept safe ❤️. He’s absolutely precious! We will be sending Riley from Friends of Augusta Animal Services / Augusta Animal Services

Μετά από αυτό μαζί με τη μητέρα του άρχισαν να επισκέπτονται καταφύγια για να γνωρίσουν από κοντά και να παίξουν με τα ζωάκια που βρίσκονταν εκεί. Ο Roman όμως δεν έμεινε μόνο σε αυτό. Άρχισε να βγάζει βίντεο τα σκυλάκια και να τα ανεβάζει στο ίντερνετ για να βρουν υιοθεσία. Λίγο καιρό μετά αυτός και η μητέρα του δημιούργησαν το μη κερδοσκοπικό οργανισμό Project Freedom Ride για να βοηθήσουν όσα περισσότερα ζώα μπορούν.

Roman had an amazing Monday with his gramma and Grandpa and our Texas Rescue Zion (featured in our Dodo Heroes Episode on Animal Planet) out at the lake! Zion is obsessed with water (like most labs) and has no OFF switch, much like Roman! This was a rare moment where they both were still enough for photo! How was your Monday???

Το Project Freedom Ride έχει βρει σπίτι σε πάνω από 1400 σκυλάκια τα τελευταία χρόνια, κάτι που κάνει τον Roman ένα μοναδικό και σπάνιο παιδί. Ο ίδιος μάλιστα θα πει: «Με κάνει πολύ ευτυχισμένο όλο αυτό. Σώζω μια ζωή. Το επόμενο πράγμα που θέλω να πετύχω είναι να βρω σπίτι σε όλα τα ζωάκια που δεν έχουν στην Αμερική».

Poor boy!! He’s settling in. Today’s vet ages him at 1-2 yrs old It’s been a LONG day to say the least. First vet bill was just over $500. It’s crazy because this is our first foster in this condition but we are so excited to watch his story unfold and watch him recover. Next step is chest X-rays to determine level of Heartworms, rabies vaccine, and follow up care. Our goal is to boost his immune system and keep him happy and improving. He’s so incredibly sweet and we cannot imagine what his life must have been like before this. We will keep everyone updated on his status!! 🐾❤️🐾 #PFRLuckysJourney
